Nikita & Alison - Nursery Manager
Nikita –
Hi, I’m Nikita, and I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Years and Special & Inclusive Education.
I’ve worked in early years education for over 15 years, and it has become so much more than a career – it’s a huge part of who I am. I spent 13 years working within private education, building a wealth of experience and developing a real passion for supporting children during the most important stages of their development.
When the opportunity arose to become a Manager at Charnwood Nursery & Preschool, I knew it was the right next step, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Every day brings something different, and I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside such dedicated teams, wonderful children and supportive families.
I’m passionate about the Charnwood Nursery & Preschool values of Growth, Joy and Belonging. Seeing these come to life in the everyday moments we share with children, families and colleagues is what inspires me every day and reminds me why I chose this profession.
As I manage a number of our sites, no two days are ever the same! One moment you’ll find me in my wellies exploring the forest with the children, the next I’m supporting the team at Charnwood Preschool & Out of School Club, before heading off to join in the fun at 5 Star Holiday Club. I’m always on the move, so if you spot me around, be sure to say hello – I’m a bit like the early years version of Where’s Wally?!
Alison –
Hi, I’m Alison and I’m the Manager at Charnwood Preschool & Out of School Club.
I’ve been part of the Charnwood Nursery & Preschool family since 2004, and I still feel just as passionate about what we do today as I did when I first started.
For me, the most rewarding part of my role is seeing both our children and our team flourish. I love supporting our staff to be the very best they can be by role modelling high-quality practice and creating an environment where everyone feels valued, confident and inspired.
Every child is unique, and I believe they should be given the time, encouragement and opportunities to learn, play and develop at their own pace. Watching children grow in confidence, reach their milestones and celebrate their achievements, whether they’re big or small, is a real privilege and one of the reasons I love working in early years.
Being part of each child’s journey and helping to create happy memories that last a lifetime is what makes this career so special to me.

Do you offer Forest School or outdoor learning?
Outdoor learning is a fundamental part of life at CNPG. Children enjoy regular access to outdoor environments where they can explore, take appropriate risks, solve problems, build resilience and develop a connection with nature. Our Forest School programme provides opportunities for children to learn through real-world experiences including den building, tool use, fire safety, nature exploration and environmental stewardship. Forest School experiences are available across the group, with dedicated sessions delivered by qualified Forest School practitioners.
Any parent communication apps or systems?
We use Famly to keep parents informed and connected to their child's nursery experience. Parents can access updates, observations, photographs, messages and important information through the app. We also communicate through newsletters, nursery updates, parent meetings and regular conversations to ensure strong partnerships between home and nursery.
