Safeguarding
Safeguarding Children
At Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school Group, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do.
We want every child to feel safe, secure, valued and able to enjoy their childhood. Our approach to safeguarding is embedded throughout our nurseries, pre-schools and out-of-school provision.
We understand that safeguarding is not simply about responding to concerns. It is about creating environments where children feel listened to, respected and supported every day.
A strong culture of safeguarding
- Safe recruitment and appropriate suitability checks for staff.
- Regular safeguarding training and updates for our teams.
- Clear procedures for identifying and responding to concerns.
- Appropriate risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Close communication with parents and carers.
- Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
- Promoting positive relationships and respectful behaviour.
- Teaching children age-appropriate ways to understand safety.
- Working with external agencies where necessary.
- Appropriate procedures for online safety.
- Maintaining confidentiality while sharing information where necessary to protect a child.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all members of our team have a role to play in keeping children safe.
Recognising concerns
Where a concern arises, we follow our safeguarding procedures and take appropriate action.
This may include working with parents and carers, children’s services, health professionals, the police, Ofsted or other relevant agencies where necessary.
Supporting children to feel safe
Our child-centred approach encourages children to develop confidence, independence and resilience while giving them trusted adults they can talk to.
Our wider curriculum, outdoor learning and everyday experiences also provide opportunities for children to learn about appropriate boundaries, relationships, personal safety and looking after themselves and others.
Safeguarding and inclusion
Our inclusive approach means we work closely with children, families and relevant professionals to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support.
